Main Duties
Deliver online, telephone and in person screenings by assessing need, safety and service suitability.
Identify appropriate evidence based interventions and/or signpost to other services where appropriate.
Assess and treat people with common mental health problems using low intensity psychological interventions e.g. Computerised CBT, Guided Self Help, Psychoeducational Classes.
Provide a culturally sensitive and accessible service.
Deliver support in line with the person's goals and in accordance with service protocols and evidence based practice (NICE Guidelines).
Work closely with the wider service to maintain a stepped care approach.
Contribute to the multidisciplinary team, wider organisation and consortium and maintain collaborative working relationships.
Ensure case records and patient management systems are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
Work with managers and colleagues to continually improve the quality of service delivery, adapting to the changing needs of our client group.
Respond to and manage risk, applying sound safeguarding and incident management principles.
Contribute to the achievement of annual set individual and service KPIs.
Participate in regular line management and clinical supervision.
Maintain professional boundaries and standards at all times.
About Us
Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service (LMWS) delivers patient focussed and evidence based Talking Therapies for people with common mental health problems.
LMWS is a partnership between Leeds Community Health Care NHS Trust, Leeds GP Confederation, Leeds and York Partnership Foundation Trust, Northpoint, Inspire North, Touchstone and Women’s Counselling and Therapies Service.
The service operates a stepped care system, providing evidence based NICE guidelineled interventions appropriate to the client’s presenting mental health problem. These include Computerised Guided Self Help, Psychoeducation classes, Low and High Intensity CBT, EMDR, IPT, Counselling for Depression and DIT.

What You Will Be Doing as Our PWP
The service operates a stepped care system, providing evidence based NICE Guidance interventions appropriate for the client’s clinical presentation. These include Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Guided Self Help, Psycho‑Educational Classes, CBT, Interpersonal Therapy, EMDR, Counselling for Depression and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy.
You will be responsible for the screening of referrals into the service via the online platform and via telephone and face to face appointments.
You will deliver evidence based low intensity interventions including classes and groups, computerised CBT and one to one guided self‑help.
Qualifications
* BPS accredited NHS Talking Therapies training course. Candidates who do not hold this qualification will not be shortlisted.
* Accredited with the BABCP or BPS as a PWP (or working towards accreditation if within six months of qualifying).
* Evidence of CPD in evidence based psychological approaches.
* Understanding of the needs to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
* Understanding of common mental health problems and how they can present within primary care.
* Knowledge of clinical governance principles.
* Knowledge of mental health and risk assessment.
* Knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health.
* Knowledge of medication used to treat common mental health problems.
Experience
* Must be a qualified PWP.
* Evidence of using CBT based techniques to treat common mental health problems.
* Worked in a service where agreed targets were in place with evidence of achieving clinical outcomes.
* Experience of managing own caseload under supervision.
* Experience of working in primary care and or Talking Therapies Services.
Skills and Competencies
* Good interpersonal skills including listening and empathy.
* Take a creative and flexible approach to working with people with common mental health problems.
* Ability to use clinical supervision positively and effectively.
* Able to build and maintain relationships whilst keeping appropriate professional boundaries and standards.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
