We are looking for an Accountant (Corporate) to join our finance, accounting and budgeting service to provide excellent Corporate financial support to promote Stirling’s ambitions to deliver the best outcomes for our communities. You will provide a comprehensive accountancy support service to a range of customers across the finance team and to the wider Council. You will be the professional finance lead for key Council finance functions including capital, treasury management, VAT and support to the year-end accounts in accordance with the Accounting Code of Practice and liaison with external audit. You will lead on the development and monitoring of the Council’s capital programme, maintaining the fixed asset register, asset valuations and providing specialist advice on capital accounting and capital financing. You will have responsibility for preparing revenue and capital budgets and supporting the wider corporate team to provide support, resilience and segregation of duties across the key functional areas. This is also an opportunity to review and develop current processes and practices to enhance service outcomes through best practice, benchmarking analysis and key financial drivers. Reporting to the Team Leader Finance. you will act as the key liaison between finance, service areas and wider corporate functions and will contribute to the council’s financial planning and the production of year end accounts and deputise for the Team Leader Finance, attending and advising a range of stakeholders including councillors and committees, and the council’s management team. The successful candidate will be a qualified Accountant, with post qualification experience and continued professional development in these key areas and will also be able to demonstrate experience of delivering professional financial support services. This will include a combination of finance, system, analytical and personal skills to deliver an effective corporate finance function to meet current and future business needs. Experience of Oracle Fusion would be advantageous.
