The Opportunity
We are seeking an Underwriting Assistant (UA) to support our experienced, market-leading Underwriting team in Stafford. This role offers the chance to work in an exciting, evolving space. You will support underwriters by providing efficient administrative assistance. No prior experience is required; comprehensive training will be provided to help you grow in your career with us.
Your Responsibilities
* Assist underwriters by providing information to negotiate rates, terms, and conditions for new and existing business.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including underwriters and team members.
* Understand the annual business plan to prioritize tasks effectively.
* Promote the department, division, and company to maximize brand presence.
* Follow underwriting standards, legal requirements, and best practices to minimize risk and improve efficiency.
* Stay informed about market trends and demonstrate awareness of market cycles.
About You
* Good organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
* Team player with excellent communication skills.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
* Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* Willingness to learn and develop in the role.
* Experience or knowledge of insurance or regulated environments is a plus but not essential.
