About the role
We are seeking a Senior Operations and Governance Officer to play a pivotal role in supporting the smooth running and strategic development of the Research Culture team. Reporting to the Head of Planning and Operations and managing a Project Officer, you will lead on the operational delivery of HR, finance, governance and broader team support functions.
This is a fixed term role that will run until July .
You will ensure that governance structures run efficiently, overseeing board secretariat functions and supporting colleagues to deliver on agreed actions. You will also be responsible for budget monitoring and financial processes, and will act as the first point of contact for HR and recruitment within the team.
Alongside this, you will contribute to strategic planning, risk management and institutional reporting, helping to ensure that our ambitious programme of change is delivered effectively. The role also includes oversight of team systems and ways of working, enabling colleagues to focus on delivering their priorities with clarity and confidence.
This is a highly varied role, offering the opportunity to combine day-to-day operational delivery with strategic input into UCL’s research culture programme.

About you
You will bring significant experience of operational delivery across HR, finance and team support functions, combined with strong project management skills. You will also have experience of servicing governance structures, with the ability to provide accurate, timely and well-presented papers, minutes and reports.
A highly organised and proactive approach is essential, as is the ability to balance a varied workload with accuracy and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills will enable you to work effectively with colleagues across UCL, while your collaborative style will help you build positive relationships across departments and committees.
Experience of working in higher education or within a research environment is desirable, as is an understanding of research culture and its impact on institutional performance. Line management experience is also advantageous.
