Offer description

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

Company Description

Genomics England successfully led the world-leading 100,000 Genomes Project, which compared and analysed individuals' genetic codes to help diagnose, treat and prevent illness.

We're now accelerating our impact, working with the NHS to further develop and embed genomic healthcare and research in Britain. Our next chapter involves working with patients, doctors, scientists, government and industry to improve genomic testing, and help researchers access the health data and technology they need to make new medical discoveries and create more effective, targeted medicines for everybody.

Job Description

Are you a skilled Product Manager looking to create products that directly enable cutting-edge research and improve patient health in the NHS and worldwide?

As Product Manager for our Dynamics CRM, you'll take responsibility for groundbreaking products that directly impact advances in personalized genomic medicine. Our CRM underlies customer relationship management across both our Research Network - enabling commercial and academic partners to leverage our world-leading dataset in the National Genomic Research Library - and the Generation Study, which will sequence 100,000 newborn babies' genomes.

Working across our healthcare and research business units (tribes), you'll ensure our CRM maintains trust with researchers and participants through discovery work around data access, enrolment, consent, and long-term study communications.

This role is for those who:

* Thrive in ambiguous, pioneering environments - You'll be designing new ways of working across internal teams and external contractors, with the autonomy to shape processes from the ground up rather than following established playbooks
* Excel at strategic resource orchestration - You'll master the art of triaging work streams, deciding what needs internal expertise versus contractor delivery, and distinguishing between BAU fixes, rapid iterations, and major project initiatives
* Energize when balancing competing priorities - You'll navigate the dynamic challenge of serving two distinct business units (tribes) with fundamentally different needs: upgrading a complex legacy system while simultaneously enabling a fast-paced, cutting-edge genomics study

If you get energized by ambiguity and want to make your mark solving novel organizational challenges in healthcare research, this offers unparalleled opportunity.

Everyday responsibilities include:

* Understand the key market, competitive, technical, ethical, clinical implications to lead the product effectively. Rely on technical knowledge and skills to prioritise and manage the product.
* Ensure your users are happy, supported, and getting value from your area of the product. Ensure your product maintains compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
* Define product vision and strategy. Set OKRs aligned to business priorities. Translate the vision, strategy and OKRs into a roadmap for your area of the product and communicate it effectively.
* Manage successful outcomes through OKRs for users and the business by defining and prioritising the focus of the developers supporting your product, balancing maintenance and new development using continuous discovery and delivery. NOTE: In this role, you will be working with a mix of developers within GEL and from our development partners. This will not follow a traditional squad model, so your responsibilities will include managing requirements and focus of these developers appropriately.
* Solve problems and make decisions quickly and effectively to make rapid progress, including many perspectives in problem solving and incorporating data into all decision making.
* Work in alignment with squad members, internal and external stakeholders, users, and third parties. Communicate priorities, commitments, and manage stakeholders.

Skills and experience for success

- Experience of leading and coordinating across distributed teams, including ability to mentor, coach and create collaborative environments without traditional hierarchy

- Experience of agile development/delivery of digital services, with flexibility to adapt methodologies to non-standard team structures

- Experience managing work across internal teams and external contractors, including vendor relationship management and working with contractor developers to deliver products.

- Comfortable working with complex technical environments, including legacy systems requiring ongoing remediation alongside new development

- Successful at (and enjoy) collaborating with people from a variety of backgrounds

- Able to influence a range of stakeholders at a variety of seniorities but also willing to listen and take on board other opinions and ideas

- Highly proactive and a practical problem solver who likes to figure stuff out rather than explaining why it can't be done.

Qualifications

Degree or experience in business or related fields.
