A specialist engineering business is seeking a hands-on Workshop Supervisor to support and develop its electrical workshop function. This is a key role focused on technical delivery, continuity planning, and practical leadership, rather than people management in a corporate sense. The position would suit an experienced electrical professional who enjoys remaining on the tools while gradually taking responsibility for job coordination, workshop organisation, and apprentice development. Electrical Workshop Supervisor £40-45k Paid Overtime, Site Uplifts North East Ref: 25157 Workshop Supervisor - The Role: Reporting into the wider engineering and operations team, the Workshop Supervisor will act as the link between the workshop and the office while remaining actively involved in day-to-day engineering work. Key responsibilities include: Hands-on electrical work including panel wiring and build Supporting on-site installations and commissioning, including international travel (c. 4 weeks per year) Occasional offshore work (very rare, but candidates must be prepared) Coordinating and managing selected workshop jobs from start to finish Acting as a liaison between the workshop floor and office teams Supporting and developing an electrical apprentice Assisting with workshop paperwork, job tracking, and general organisation Helping future-proof the workshop by supporting knowledge transfer and skills development The workshop currently consists of a small, close-knit electrical & mechanical team, and the successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening and sustaining this capability long term. Workshop Supervisor - The Person: The ideal candidate will have: A strong electrical background with hands-on workshop experience Experience of panel wiring and electrical build Willingness to travel internationally and occasionally offshore A practical, reliable, and collaborative working style Confidence to take responsibility for jobs and support others An interest in mentoring and developing junior engineers/apprentices Leadership experience is not essential – this role suits someone ready to step up naturally This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer looking to move into a hands-on leadership role while remaining technically active and valued.
