Job Overview
Equans is recruiting for an Electrician to be based on site at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh. This is a permanent full-time role working 42 hours per week, with a competitive salary and benefits package.
Please note: This is a shift role - working 4 on 4 off between 7am - 7pm.
Responsibilities
* Installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards such as SHTMs, PPMs, and SLAs.
* Supervision of Craft or Operative Maintenance Assistants and potentially acting as a Shift Manager.
* Interpretation of risk assessments and method statements, ensuring safe working practices.
* Carrying out fault finding, installations, and repairs in industrial and commercial electrical systems.
* Executing PPM and RPM tasks using Maximo or other systems, signing off work, and escalating issues as needed.
* Ownership of tasks, accurate documentation, and effective completion of work.
* Effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and service users.
* Problem-solving and proposing practical solutions.
* Supporting colleagues through knowledge sharing and training.
* Adapting to shifting priorities while maintaining professionalism and quality.
* Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
* Electrical competency to Level 3 or an advanced recognized electrical apprenticeship.
* Relevant CP qualifications in high-risk disciplines.
* Knowledge of SHTM, PPMs, and SLAs.
* Understanding of engineering building services installation and maintenance.
* Problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
* Organizational and time management skills.
* Flexibility and adaptability.
* Willingness to obtain a PVG Disclosure prior to starting.
