We are working with a well-regarded Pupil Referral Unit in Colchester that is seeking a compassionate, experienced and proactive SENCO. This setting is committed to providing a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD and behavioural challenges.
Job Overview
* Full-time, Monday - Friday SENCO role.
* Lead and manage SEND provision across the setting.
* Support students with EHCPs and additional learning needs.
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, external agencies and families.
* Coordinate and monitor interventions to improve student outcomes and engagement.
* Ensure statutory SEND responsibilities are met in line with current legislation.
* Develop and implement personalised support plans and strategies.
* Promote inclusive teaching and behaviour support approaches throughout the setting.
* Support staff with training, guidance and effective SEN strategies.
* Contribute to safeguarding, wellbeing and reintegration planning for students.
What we're looking for
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to work towards it).
* Previous experience working as a SENCO or within SEND provision.
* Experience supporting students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and challenging behaviours.
* Strong knowledge of EHCP processes, safeguarding and SEND legislation.
* Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
* A calm, resilient and nurturing approach.
* Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and external professionals.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
