This role is to work as part of a team that provides Human Factors support to the Nuclear Site Safety Case, working to deliver the Human-Based Safety Claim aspects of the Nuclear Site Safety Case through the delivery of safety measures for operators.
* Supporting Safety Case delivery;
* Task Analysis and Human Reliability Analysis;
* Substantiating operator claims within the Safety Case;
* Producing evidence in the form of safety justifications and providing specialist support for associated activities;
* Contributing to identification and rapid closure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages and managing the resulting change embodiment activities;
* Undertaking peer reviews or checking / verification tasks as directed;
* Carrying out knowledge transfer and support activities to other team members;
* Providing realistic programme status, identifying problem areas and implementing agreed recovery plans;
* Articulating and presenting complex technical arguments clearly, logically and simply.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DELIVERABLES
* To produce Human Factors analysis and assessment reports in accordance with the detailed Human Factors Integration Plan;
* To provide Human Factors advice to the project;
To build good working relationships with the appropriate stakeholders such as safety case authors, procedure authors, and operators.
Knowledge
* Relevant experience as a Human Factors practitioner;
* A general understanding of manufacturing, assembly, commissioning and testing processes used within the submarine business;
* Knowledge of the tools used to integrate Human Factors into the Safety Case;
* Knowledge, or at least recognition, of relevant engineering standards (including safety and environmental regulations);
Recognition of the limits of own knowledge so that specialist support and development can be sought.
* Necessary skills to deliver Human Factors into a Nuclear Site Safety Case;
* Understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Safety Case sits;
* Understanding of how the Safety Case is delivered;
* Understanding of Design Basis Assessment, Probabilistic Assessment, and Design Substantiation Assurance;
* Understanding of Human Factors integration into a Safety Case;
* Understanding of Human Reliability Analysis, Task Analysis, and qualitative substantiation of operator claims made within the Safety Case;
* Ability to liaise with stakeholders;
Ability to work within a wider Human Factors team or group.
