Overview
The post-holder will be responsible for providing a catering and cleaning service within the Central Production Kitchen (CPU) and outlying catering outlets. The post-holder will assist with the production of all meals with the Central Production Kitchen (CPU) and other outlying catering units within the department. The post-holder will also be required to provide a catering service in accordance with the Food Safety Regulations and Food Hygiene Regulations. The post holder will have their main base of work on either campus, City Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre or Ropewalk House; however there may be occasions to cover another area.
Responsibilities
* Provide a catering and cleaning service within the CPU and outlying catering outlets.
* Assist with the production of all meals with the CPU and other outlying catering units within the department.
* Provide a catering service in accordance with the Food Safety Regulations and Food Hygiene Regulations.
* Main base of work on campus, City Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre or Ropewalk House; may cover other areas as required.
* Food Safety: adherence to procedures and recording HACCP data; receiving, quality checking and storing deliveries; monitoring and exercising stock rotation.
* Food Production: preparation according to standard recipes; support food production to the catering team; portioning of foods; sealing, labeling, chilling and blast freezing of food; be aware of patient special dietary requirements and ensure these are followed.
* Food Service Preparation: receiving/unloading/cleaning/storage of meal trolleys; loading of meal trolleys in preparation for each meal service; delivering food to wards and departments as required.
* Cleaning: maintain high standards in the CPU and other catering units (walls, floors, doors, surfaces, gullies/drains, fixtures and fittings); perform deep cleaning tasks as required; replenish cleaning materials; report maintenance issues; empty bins and dispose of waste; use wet scrub machinery; strip and clean slicing machinery; use and clean deep fat frying equipment as required.
