Job Title: Test Lead Contract Type: Permanent Location: Edinburgh Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based Closing date: 12th May 2026 This role fits in the high profile Mobile App Team. Its an exciting time to join the Mobile App Team where you will have a real opportunity to help define and develop the test journey. We are looking for the right person so though previous experience in Mobile App teams is useful we are open to candidates without this background with experience of engaging teams in other products where delivery is high and strong teamwork essential. The Test Lead coordinates and manages planning of the system and acceptance tests within a specialist team working in Agile squads. You will take responsibility for integrity of testing and acceptance activities and coordinate the execution of these activities. Provide authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of test approach, planning and execution. Define and communicate the test strategy for the project or specialist team. Manage all test processes, including test plans, resources, costs, timescales, test deliverables and traceability. Identifies process improvements and contributes to corporate testing standards and definition of best practice. About the role: Takes responsibility for the management of the testing activities. Plans or oversees the planning of the system and acceptance tests and co-ordinates the execution of these plans. Takes responsibility for early life-cycle validation and verification. Takes responsibility for the production and approval of testing deliverables and achievement of testing milestones. Directs and carries out investigations to assess and advise on the practicality of testing process alternatives. Identifies improvements to the process and assists in their implementation. Ensures that any risks associated with test strategy and the system test plan are clearly documented and described to the clients/users and colleagues. Manages all risks associated with the testing and takes preventative action when any risks become unacceptable. Mentors Test Analysts in the team supporting them to grow and build a really collaborative test team who are working together to keep the test journey efficient and adding value. Champions the use of automation and other test methods like static testing, exploratory testing. Reassess on a regular basis if elements in the test journey still add value and encourage the test team to do the same. Liase with the Non functional performance and security testers to ensure they are included in a project or a specialist team. Essential Experience: Previous experience leading a test team or test in a project Use of modern testing techniques including some automation tools An enthusiasm for maintaining quality in the product with a can do attitude and a real desire to build an engaged collaborative test team. Nice to have: Experience in Mobile App testing including tools for automation. Experience of Azure Devops and/or testing applications part hosted in Azure. Ready Api, Playwright or Perfecto test tools. Working with SQL. Proficient in the collection, analysis and application of historical test measurements and future estimation. Proficient in the principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of the testing process and the execution of tests throughout the lifecycle of development projects. Expert in specific standards, practices, appraisal and certification programs associated with testing. Experience of using and leading teams using automated test tools. Experience of an application, process or product that benefits the test team. Specialist knowledge and skills in one or more function, technology or automation tool.
