Position Overview
The Business Development Manager plays a key role in driving Tamar Hydro’s commercial growth across both domestic and international markets. This position is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing a diverse pipeline of opportunities—ranging from small-scale local projects to major infrastructure developments—across the company’s full range of services, including hydro, solar, electrical, and engineering solutions.
With a strong commercial focus, the role involves proactively seeking out and qualifying new leads and working to convert those leads into deliverable projects. It also includes managing strategic partnerships, overseeing the preparation and submission of tenders, and contributing to the development of commercial strategies that align with Tamar Hydro’s technical capabilities and environmental values. The Business Development Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to support the company’s broader vision of delivering integrated, sustainable solutions.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development or sales management. You’ll have the drive to exceed sales targets and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction while maintaining a high level of accountability.
In this role, you will:
* Identify, qualify, and convert new business leads into deliverable projects across domestic and international markets.
* Achieve and maintain revenue targets through developing the business’s customer contacts and delivering on new work/projects.
* Estimate or quote pricing, contract terms, and delivery details based on customer requirements and technical input.
* Perform tasks with a focus on minimising errors, waste, and time, while ensuring your actions have no adverse impact on the surrounding environment or Tamar Hydro.
* Work collaboratively with other team members including manufacturing, projects, design, and finance.
* Ensure forecasting is accurate, realistic, and submitted on time.
* Provide monthly performance reviews and reporting of potential customers, business development KPIs, opportunity pipelines, and provide strategic updates to senior management.
* Set the tone and standard for all sales communications (written and verbal).
* Ensure the team provides friendly, helpful, honest, and accurate customer service and advice at all times.
* Always represent Tamar Hydro and its brands to the highest professional standards and in line with company values.
The ideal candidate will have:
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
* A commitment to high levels of customer satisfaction.
* The ability to study and retain detailed product/project information.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* The ability to establish team engagement in alignment with the business strategy.
