We have an exciting opportunity for an Infrastructure Security Specialist join our progressive IT team!

This is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid working, with a salary of £44,355 - £48,446 per annum.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Infrastructure Security Specialist to join our IT team.

The Role:

* The Infrastructure Security Specialist plays a critical role in protecting the council's IT systems, networks, and infrastructure from cyber threats, unauthorised access, and data breaches.
* This position ensures the ongoing integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information systems across both on-premises and cloud environments, aligning with the council's IT strategy and national security standards.
* The role involves maintaining and enhancing security architecture, monitoring for threats, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with the following standards ISO27001, NIST CSF, PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials and PSN.
* The specialist will also assist with network infrastructure, collaborate with internal teams and external partners, and contribute to continuous improvement in security posture through proactive threat detection, risk analysis, and performance monitoring.
* A strong understanding of network technologies is essential to support secure and informed decision-making

Your role will involve:

* Maintain and enhance IT security architecture across on-premises and cloud environments to protect against cyber threats.
* Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents, ensuring timely remediation and risk mitigation.
* Ensure compliance with national standards such as ISO27001, NIST CSF, PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials and PSN, and support internal and external audits.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to implement and maintain effective security controls.
* Support network infrastructure team and monitoring to ensure system stability and resilience.

What we are looking for:

* Proven experience in IT security and infrastructure, including working with cloud and on-premises environments.
* A strong understanding of network security tools and protocols, such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
* Ability to analyse and respond to security incidents effectively, using a risk-based approach.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly.
* Ablility to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
