NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is a permanent, full time position.
The shift pattern for this position is variable.
The Royal Hospital for Children is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Theatre Coordinator to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team within our state-of-the-art paediatric operating theatres.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert clinical leadership, coordinate the daily operational flow of our theatres, and support safe, effective, and compassionate care for children and young people undergoing surgery.
As a Theatre Coordinator, you will be responsible for the safe and effective coordination of theatre activities on a daily basis. You will lead and support a skilled perioperative team including nurses, operating department practitioners, and theatre support staff. You will work closely with anaesthetists, surgeons, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless patient pathway. Your clinical expertise in theatre practices will be vital to maintaining high standards of care. You will be expected to ensure compliance with infection control, health and safety, and clinical governance standards, while also contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
To be considered for this role, you must be a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with current NMC or HCPC registration. You should have significant post-registration experience within the perioperative environment. Proven leadership and coordination skills at Band 6 level or above are essential. The role demands excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, as well as a strong passion for delivering safe, child-centred care and driving high standards.
In return, we offer the opportunity to work within a supportive and forward-thinking paediatric surgical team. We provide access to professional development opportunities and leadership training, as well as the chance to contribute to service innovation within a leading children’s hospital. You will benefit from the NHS pension scheme, a generous holiday allowance, and flexible working options.
