Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical Day Unit
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to work within the Medical Day Unit based in Bronglais General Hospital. The Medical Day Unit is a nurse-led unit specialising in treatments and procedures which can be completed as a day case. We work alongside the community and other hospitals within the trust to ensure that patients are treated close to their homes and avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.
As part of the team, you will share the same high standards and passion, providing proactive, compassionate care and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure patients are treated promptly and appropriately. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in tasks associated with their role and will be encouraged to use evidence-based practice to further enhance their skills. Full and part-time hours are available.
Main Duties
* Admit, assess, and implement a plan of care for patients attending the unit.
* Assess a patient's suitability to receive treatment, complete pre-treatment checks, and highlight any contraindications to treatment if necessary.
* Undertake tasks such as cannulation, venepuncture, and catheterisation (TWOC clinic). Training available as required.
* Manage medication including preparation and administration.
* Manage blood transfusions, immunotherapy, and biological treatments, understanding associated adverse reactions.
* Recognise emergency situations such as anaphylaxis and sepsis, and manage appropriately.
* Supervise healthcare support workers, students, and junior doctors, and participate in their ongoing education and development.
* Assist in maintaining a safe working environment.
* Work collaboratively within the hospital and trust to ensure smooth referral processes for local treatment.
* Maintain accurate and clear documentation related to patient admissions.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
