Job Overview
The appointment is for a substantive 10 PA Consultant in Gynaecological Oncology. The post is based at St Michael’s Hospital with a day a week running a specialist gynaecological oncology outreach clinic at Weston General Hospital.
The appointee will be an experienced Gynaecological Oncology clinician who has completed sub‑specialty training. Additional ATSMs complementary to the existing department would be welcomed.
The successful candidate will participate as a full team member of the tertiary Gynaecological Oncology team. Experience in HIPEC would be desirable.
The post holder will cover emergency ‘hot week’ and a non‑resident (1 in 14) on‑call covering Gynaecology only.

Key Qualifications and Certifications
* Certification of completion of specialist training (CCT) (or equivalent, or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) at the point of interview)
* Candidates can be within 6 months of gaining CCT at the date of interview – this does not apply to CESR applications
* Eligible for specialist registration in obstetrics and gynaecology within six months of interview
* Higher academic qualification e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent
Experience
* Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Gynaecology
* Sub‑specialty training in Gynaecology Oncology
* Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision
* Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department and is consistent with the Trust’s service strategy
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
* Up to date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty
* Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to specialty
* Broad range of IT skills
Clinical Governance and Audit
* Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies
* Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit and evidence of participation
* Positive approach to evidence‑based practice
* Participation in continuing professional development (CPD) scheme and, where relevant, evidence of participation
Research
* Knowledge of the principles involved in research
* Evidence of active involvement in research
* Evidence of peer review research papers
* Ability to increase the academic profile of the department
* Evidence of involvement in the leadership of research
* A national profile in gynaecological oncology research
Teaching and Training
* Experience of teaching medical students
* Experience of supervising trainees
* Knowledge of teaching to a multidisciplinary team
