As part of Bordesley MAT, Birchensale Middle School works closely with Trinity High School, Woodfield Academy, and Holyoakes Field First School, focusing on the development of children in Redditch. The school is a 5-form entry middle school for pupils aged 9-13 years, emphasizing a happy, vibrant learning community with high aspirations.

The essential attributes are:

* QTS Status or equivalent
* The ability to teach KS2 and KS3
* Ability to work under pressure
* Experience of managing secondary school classes successfully
* A clear philosophy about teaching Physical Education
