Urology Cancer Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join the uro-oncology specialist nursing team. We are looking for a proficient dedicated nurse with urology experience and an interest in patients with urological cancers.
The successful applicant will provide care and support to patients across the urology cancer pathway, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The nurse will utilise appropriate health promotion to initiate patient tailored holistic care, with opportunities to develop and support nurse-led clinics. The nurse should have a solid urological knowledge base and be able to apply this to clinical practice. This post requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, support the multi-disciplinary team and urology lead, and contribute toward continued service development. Main duties / Responsibilities
* To assist the site-specific Advanced Nurse Practitioner of the site-specific MDT in providing information and support to individuals with Urology malignancies and their families through holistic assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care.
* To ensure seamless and timely transitions between primary, secondary, tertiary and palliative care through liaison and referral to appropriate healthcare professionals and other agencies, treating patients with dignity and respect, and maintaining a high standard of care.
* To be an effective core member of the site-specific MDT with responsibilities aligned to NICE Improving Outcomes Guidance and National Cancer Quality Measures.
* To communicate with patients, families and carers, and other health professionals while maintaining privacy and dignity; to be a reliable source of support, demonstrating compassion and empathy, and upholding professional integrity.

Job responsibilities
The dedicated Urology Investigation Unit offers training and development opportunities to build clinical and leadership skills, with clinical supervision and reflective practice.
The onsite cancer centre provides streamlined cancer services with an onsite radiotherapy service, supported by management, nurse practitioners, advanced clinical practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, and palliative care and wellbeing services.

Qualifications and knowledge
* Essential: RGN Adult; Diploma/degree or working at advanced level; Mentorship
* Desirable: Cancer course/modules (degree level)
Experience
* Essential: Post-registration experience in Urology Cancer; care for patients with cancer/oncology; team leading experience; balancing and prioritising care and staffing needs; experience in educating & training staff
Skills
* Essential: Ability to delegate appropriately and recognise own and others’ competence and role boundaries; IT skills; leadership and management experience; team awareness and ability to view the wider picture; awareness of current issues in nursing; ability to facilitate and support development of innovative nursing practice
