Overview
We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Psychiatrist post within Adult Mental Health Inpatient and Liaison Services, based in Scunthorpe and covering the area of North Lincolnshire. The post is within Older Persons Mental Health Services and involves comprehensive adult, older adult, and community forensic mental health services across Rotherham, Doncaster, and North Lincolnshire. The postholder will also be based at Great Oaks, Scunthorpe, housing the Laurel Ward (over 65) and Mulberry House ward (working age adults), as well as associated non‑bed‑based services.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consultant clinical input, including face‑to‑face patient assessment for complex Acute Hospital Liaison, Care Home Liaison, and CRHT cases for older adults.
* Act as Senior Medical Lead for Laurel Ward.
* Deliver timely and tailored clinical care to patients and carers within multidisciplinary teams.
* Maintain a flexible weekly timetable that responds promptly to patient and team needs, supporting and advising team members as necessary.
* Work through advice and supervision with direct patient contact as required, enabling district‑wide service delivery with rapid patient throughput.
* Provide on‑call duties as part of the 10PA full‑time Consultant post.
Qualifications & Experience
* Must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Older Adult Psychiatry or Adult Psychiatry, or be a trainee within 6 months of completing their CCT.
* Approved or eligible for approval for Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician status.
* Evidence of good communication skills.
* Commitment to multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working.
Location & Schedule
The postholder will be based at Great Oaks, Scunthorpe, covering two inpatient psychiatric wards and the associated non‑bed‑based services. The role is a full‑time (10 PA) Consultant position with on‑call duties.
