 
        
        Mental Health Support Worker – Rowan House
Response’s Rowan House (Littlemore) is looking for an enthusiastic, caring person to join our dedicated team. The role supports 25 residents with acute mental health needs, working alongside the Adult Mental Health Team. You’ll be part of a team that values independence and has the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives.
Salary: £10,266.89 – £11,099.19 per annum (varies with experience)
Hours: Part‑time – 15 hours per week, Monday to Sunday inclusive of bank holidays. Shifts include mornings, evenings and weekends.
Location: Rowan House, Littlemore.
Responsibilities
 * Provide person‑centred support to residents with serious mental illness, including those with psychotic disorders, comorbid physical health issues, neurodiversity, substance misuse, and cognitive impairment.
 * Promote residents’ independence, well‑being and ability to manage their own mental health through proactive support and encouragement.
 * Maintain resident safety through good housing management, risk assessment and health & safety practice.
 * Support residents to maintain tenancies, look after their homes and develop daily living skills.
 * Collaborate with health professionals and liaise with primary and mental health services to meet residents’ physical and mental needs.
 * Use a trauma‑informed approach, applying the 6 principles: safety, trust, choice, collaboration, empowerment and cultural consideration.
 * Engage families, friends and carers in residents’ care and keep them informed about services.
 * Escalate safeguarding concerns in line with safeguarding policy.
 * Maintain accurate records: goals, risk‑management plans, activities and daily notes.
 * Adhere to all health and safety measures and support a One Team culture across the team.
Essential Criteria
 * GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
 * Commitment to ongoing personal development, including completion of the Care Certificate.
 * IT literacy with experience using MS Office.
 * Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills.
 * Ability to provide non‑judgemental, emotional and practical support to residents.
 * Interest in mental health and wellbeing, aligned with Response’s mission.
 * High integrity, working in line with Response’s vision, mission and values.
 * Familiarity with health and safety procedures.
