Murphy is recruiting for a Procurement Manager to join our growing Infrastructure team, delivering a major water infrastructure project in partnership with United Utilities, as part of the AMP8 programme.
Murphy is a long‑standing delivery partner to leading water clients across the UK and Ireland, including Thames Water, Severn Trent, Northern Ireland Water, Yorkshire Water, SES Water, Bristol Water, South East Water, and Uisce Éireann, where we operate over 25 facilities under full DBOM contracts.
A day in the life of a Murphy Procurement Manager
* Propose the procurement strategy for the regional operating unit and develop the regional supply chain to suit the demand.
* Provide an effective and professional service in the procurement of sub‑contractors and materials covering:
o Work‑winning / Pre‑construction procurement strategy and supply chain selection for Bid Leader.
* Construction stage project procurement for Project Leader, including:
o Procurement strategy.
o Production and driving of the procurement schedule.
o Development of work package documents in conjunction with project teams.
o Work package procurement.
o Production of sub‑contracts in conjunction with project teams.
o Management of sub‑contract formalities (execute, bonds, warranties).
* Supply chain management, including structuring the supply chain, carrying out performance and relationship management to drive improved performance/cost benefits.
* Generate and encourage an efficient, productive and continuously improving supply chain performance within the trades.
* Support the group procurement functional goals and objectives within the region.
* Deliver a consistent procurement approach across all projects within the regional operating unit from work‑winning / pre‑construction stage.
* Ensure a robust negotiation process is applied in the engagement process.
* Ensure contract arrangements and package details are comprehensive and protect the business in its dealings with suppliers and sub‑contractors.
* Ensure decisions are not focussed upon lowest price but overall best value for money.
* Develop an accredited and structured supply chain that is aligned to the regional operating unit demand and overall Murphy strategy.
* Develop the supply chain, products and innovations that bring cost and/or buildability benefits.

* Detailed knowledge and understanding of work practices, processes and procedures within the construction process from pre‑construction stage and into construction stage.
* CIPS Chartership or working towards.
* Experience of working within a water framework.
* C3/C4 Knowledge.
* Good existing business network and relationships with the supply chain.
* Good product and supplier knowledge relevant to the regional operating unit.
* Good working knowledge of contracts.
* Good understanding of strategic procurement practices.
* Good knowledge of sustainability within procurement practices.
