The Jefferiss Wing at St Mary’s Hospital is on the lookout for a proactive, empathetic, and non-judgmental Healthcare Assistant to join our forward-thinking nursing team within the Integrated Sexual Health Service.

What You’ll Do:
5. Support clinics with sample collection and processing, phlebotomy, and chaperoning procedures.
6. Support our expert clinicians in specialist clinics.

What We Are Looking For:
8. Excellent communicator (written & spoken).
9. Confident using your initiative in a clinical setting.
10. Experience in phlebotomy or sexual health screening? Great! If not, we’ll train you.
11. Above all – empathetic, inclusive, and passionate about patient care.

Main duties of the job
12. To work across both clinics in Jefferiss Wing – The Sexual Health clinic and The HIV Outpatient Department (The Wharfside Clinic).
13. To carry out care and treatment tasks, delegated from professionally qualified staff, requiring a range of technical ability.
14. Ensure the clinic environment is safe and clean.
15. Fulfil any clerical duties.
16. To supervise less experienced Nursing Assistants.
17. To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide support for any area specified by the co-ordinating nurse on duty.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
18. QCF Level 3 in Health or equivalent (NVQ3, Advanced Apprenticeship) Numerate
19. Able to speak and write English to an appropriate standard to fulfil the job requirements.
Experience

20. Demonstrate a clear insight into the role.
21. Up to date experience - worked within an acute care setting within the last 18 months.
22. Willing to learn venepuncture and other relevant skills
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
