Phoenix Scientific Industries (PSI) Limited designs, manufactures and installs capital equipment involving small R&D systems up to high throughput turnkey production plant. Our sister company MPP uses PSI’s gas atomisation systems in the production and development of high performance, high purity spherical metal powders.
This is a unique multi-skilled opportunity to work and learn new skills in an exciting, growing industry. You will be both part of the team responsible for the set up and operation of the atomising equipment for the manufacture of metal powders as well as assisting in assembly of the material processing systems during manufacturing.
Main Responsibilities & Duties:
* Working with the Production Team to fulfil production orders for metal powder
* Safe loading of raw material into the induction furnace
* Melting, pouring and atomising of metal alloys
* Cleaning of the atomiser and components to a high standard
* Operation of the Atomiser through PLC
* Support the overall assembly of the process plant
* Support with the routing of gas, pneumatics, vacuum, water and electrical services
* Support with the testing of sub-system equipment to include systems configuration and calibration
* Overseas & UK site installation and commissioning
* Carry out Planned Maintenance on in-house process plant
* Maintaining a clean, organised workspace and promote safe practices
* Operation of an overhead crane
Require Knowledge & Skills:
* Experience within industrial/manufacturing operating environments
* A mechanical, technical knowledge and ability
* Experience in equipment maintenance
* Pro-active mind-set with the ability to work autonomously where required
* Confidence to work at height and in small spaces
Desired (Optional) Experience:
* General Mechanical Assembly
* Fork-lift (Counterbalance) licence
* Operation of PLC controller types
* Metal melting experience
The role is based at PSI’s Hailsham site but will involve occasional UK and overseas visits in support of our worldwide customer base. Due to the nature of the work this role cannot be fulfilled by working on a remote basis.
Essentials:
Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel globally as required

39 hour working week
