JOB ROLE: Kitchen Assistant
RESPONSIBLE TO: Care Home Manager
JOB SUMMARY: Responsibilities:
1. To work under the direction of the cook
2. To ensure all areas of the kitchen are kept clean
3. Ensure the dining room is cleaned daily and the tables set after each meal service
4. Ensure drinks and snacks are available for the care staff to collect at the appropriate times for the residents
5. Prepare drinks etc for visitors if requested
6. Ensure kitchen cleaning schedules are completed and documented correctly
7. To ensure the kitchen is left thoroughly clean and tidy at the end of each shift
8. Ensure you are familiar with the Home's policies and procedures
9. To maintain a safe environment and to report deficiencies, breakages
10. At all times act as an ambassador for the Home and ensure that no act or omission on your part brings the company into disrepute.
11. To maintain a clean and tidy appearance and launder own uniform. Wear correct uniform at all times (see uniform police).
12. Attend relevant training and staff meetings when required

All staff must ensure they are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
