Job Title: Naval Architect – Hydrostatics Lead

Salary: From £50,000 depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
* Lead and manage the Naval Architecture Hydrostatics Team providing line management and mentoring to team members
* Provide expert technical guidance by acting as a Subject Matter Expert for Hydrostatics and Stability
* Own and maintain class and boat specific buoyancy and compressibility models
* Act as requirement owner for contractual stability requirements ensuring timely delivery of key certification and acceptance documentation as well as supporting with technical reviews
* Act as system owner for Ballast ensuring that key system documentation is maintained and delivered in accordance with the integrated master schedule
* Oversee hydrostatics build surveillance activities with regular monitoring and management throughout various build and outfitting phases
* Coordinate regular Whole Boat Stability Performance reviews, utilising strong stakeholder management skills to influence systems owners alongside supply chain and senior management to achieve a best for program outcome
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Hold a degree in Naval Architecture or another closely related subject
* Have gained prior CEng chartered status or have the ability to achieve it within a 12 months time frame
* Good experience of Para marine Stability Analysis
* Extensive experience of hydrostatic and stability analysis
Desirable:
* Experience leading and managing a small team
* Demonstrable experience in conducting practical stability experiments

The Naval Architect Hydrostatics team:
This is an exciting opportunity to join us in the team where you will manage the team to deliver the hydrostatic requirements here within our Submarine programmes. You will support with the modelling of buoyancy and stability of the submarines through utilising specialised software and will also have a brilliant opportunity to support physical testing by conducting sea trials. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
