Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, forward-thinking, and enthusiastic clinical pharmacist to join our CDDFT pharmacy team as the senior pharmacist for cardiology at DMH.

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest integrated care providers in England, serving a population of around 600,000 people. Our teams aim to provide high-quality and joined-up care to our patients, with a focus on direct patient care by our clinical pharmacy teams.

You will be an integral member of the cardiology medicine MDT at University Hospital North Durham, with opportunities to develop the clinical pharmacy service and strengthen multidisciplinary relationships. Attendance at other sites, including University Hospital of North Durham, may be required.

We support staff health, well-being, and professional development to help you reach your full potential.

Main duties of the job

Work closely with consultants and the MDT to deliver safe, compassionate, and joined-up care, embodying the trust's values and mission of 'right first time, every time'.

Provide leadership in cardiology pharmacy, offering specialist advice on medication use, developing services, and supporting evidence-based practice.

Build relationships with ward teams, deliver governance, teaching, quality improvement, and service development. Mentoring and further education opportunities, including practicing as an independent prescriber, will be supported.

Lead pharmacy staff, support the trust's pharmacy strategy, and work autonomously while motivating others.

About Us

Applicants must accept an interview slot upon selection, even if previously arranged with the manager.

All essential certificates must be provided for pre-employment checks.

We operate from Darlington Memorial Hospital, University Hospital of North Durham, and other community settings, including over 80 community-based locations.

We encourage applications from disabled and BAME candidates due to under-representation.

Full job descriptions are available in supporting documents.
