Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, forward-thinking, and enthusiastic clinical pharmacist to join our CDDFT pharmacy team as the senior pharmacist for cardiology at DMH.
County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest integrated care providers in England, serving a population of around 600,000 people. Our teams aim to provide high-quality and joined-up care to our patients, with a focus on direct patient care by our clinical pharmacy teams.
You will be an integral member of the cardiology medicine MDT at University Hospital North Durham, with opportunities to develop the clinical pharmacy service and strengthen multidisciplinary relationships. Attendance at other sites, including University Hospital of North Durham, may be required.

Main duties of the job
Work closely with consultants and the MDT to deliver safe, compassionate, and joined-up care, embodying the trust's values and mission of 'right first time, every time'.
Provide leadership in cardiology pharmacy, offering specialist advice on medication use, developing services, and supporting evidence-based practice.
Build relationships with ward teams, deliver governance, teaching, quality improvement, and service development. Mentoring and further education opportunities, including practicing as an independent prescriber, will be supported.
Lead pharmacy staff, support the trust's pharmacy strategy, and work autonomously while motivating others.

Job Responsibilities
Facilitate a 7-day pharmacy service, contributing to on-call, late, and weekend rotas. Flexible working discussions are welcomed.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage pharmacy staff, ensuring safe and effective medicines management services.
* Develop pharmacy services, participate in research and audits.
* Collaborate with other trust pharmacists to develop services across sites, represent the directorate, and provide training and advice.
* Maintain personal clinical activity at a senior level.
* Employ patient-centered practice models prioritizing safety and risk minimization.
* Supervise and support pharmacy staff, including junior pharmacists and trainees.
* Monitor prescribing practices, resolve issues, and contribute to staff education.
* Work with patients and healthcare professionals to develop services aligned with needs.
* Coordinate with external pharmacy teams and agencies on medicines management.

Person Specification
Essential Skills & Qualifications
* Excellent communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
* Motivated, team-oriented, and committed to developing clinical skills.
* Reliable with good workload prioritization.
* Masters in Pharmacy or equivalent, with postgraduate qualifications or experience meeting RPS standards.
* Evidence of CPD, education, and willingness to work towards an independent prescribing qualification.
* Registered with GPhC as a practicing pharmacist.
* Experience in clinical pharmacy service development, leadership, audit, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
* Specialist knowledge, research, publications, and active involvement in interest groups.
* Postgraduate management or clinical qualifications, teaching experience, and research involvement.
