The Occupational Therapy Service at Callington Road Hospital is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who has an interest in working in mental health. The wards served by the team include PICU, Acute, Rehabilitation and Later Life.
This post will provide the opportunity to develop and use a broad range of your OT skills. Knowledge of the VdT Model of Creative Ability, MOHO and Allen’s Cognitive Disability Model together with the use of a sensory approach to meet service users' needs would be beneficial but in-house training is also available.
Callington Road Hospital is an inpatient facility for adults experiencing mental health problems and the Occupational Therapy team share office facilities with the other specialist therapies teams.
You will be supported by senior OTs to use and further develop your professional skills. You will be expected to be a reflective practitioner, committed to lifelong learning. You will participate in activities related to your own CPD and also the team development, keeping abreast of and implementing current evidence based intervention. Regular supervision and appraisal are an integral part of our practice.
To develop and implement occupational therapy treatment plans and provide advice to service users to enable them to maintain, restore or create a balance between their abilities and the demands of their occupation and environment in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure. Service users have a range of mental health conditions or learning disabilities.
To work compassionately with service users and carers to achieve identified occupational therapy goals and to promote social inclusion, independence and well-being through a client-centred approach.
