What Youll Be Doing
* Planning: review historical performance to determine future product strategy, work with the Buyer to deliver a balanced range with robust sales, markdown, margin and stock plans; manage WSSI and category planning for the season; create space and range plans and plan new season buys across all channels; review competitor activity and plan intake to balance the range; plan pricing to hit overall margin targets; provide regular performance reviews across all business channels.
* Trading: plan the department to deliver a balanced range across grades and channels; report weekly on trading opportunities or risks; manage markdown plans to drive sales and meet targets; ensure allocation strategy supports business needs and adapt trading decisions as required.
* Retail: manage product strategy for retail, including retail ranging, grading and density planning; oversee specific stores, conduct regular store visits, and produce reports with follow-up actions.
* Supplier and product maintenance: hold regular supplier reviews, maintain supplier records, foster effective partnerships, attend supplier visits and buying trips, and ensure product records and system maintenance are kept up to date.
* Commercial awareness: oversee multi-channel merchandising (retail, direct, wholesale, B2B), monitor competitors, meet critical planning deadlines, and deliver high standards of customer service.
* Merchandising systems: develop knowledge of merchandising systems and suggest improved practices and system updates; perform integrity checks to ensure efficient department operations.
* Management and development of team: pursue personal development, foster strong cross-business relationships, review processes, and assist in training and day-to-day team management.
The Skills & Experience Youll Need
* Systems knowledge
* Excellent numerical and analytical ability
* Experience in a Head Office Merchandising environment as a Junior Merchandiser or Senior Assistant Merchandiser
