Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Years Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a genuine love for working with young children. This role involves creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes the development of children in their early years. The Early Years Educator will be responsible for planning engaging activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, and fostering positive relationships with both children and their families.

Duties

* Develop and implement age-appropriate educational programmes that encourage learning through play.
* Provide high-quality care and supervision for children, ensuring their safety at all times.
* Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive community.
* Observe and assess children's development, maintaining accurate records of their progress.
* Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive learning environment.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the nursery setting.
* Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
* Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Experience

* Proven experience working with children in a childcare or nursery setting is essential.
* A qualification in Early Childhood Education or level 3 equivalent is preferred.
* Excellent communication skills in English to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
* Experience in planning educational activities that cater to diverse learning needs.

Early Years Educator

The Educator will be working as a Key-person for the daily needs of children between the ages of birth and 2 years within the Baby Room.

The Educator should ensure that they have read all the settings Policies and Procedures and will adhere to these at all times.

Purpose of post:

To become a member of a team, to share their existing knowledge and to seek support from their Lead Educator and other team members to fully understand their roles and responsibilities.

To share a common purpose and work together to achieve set outcomes.

To have a shared vision within a team, listen to thoughts and opinions, have a trusting relationship and work in partnership with all Educators within the setting, to offer quality care to all children, and their families, and to consider equality and diversity at all times.

To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for all children placed within the setting. To include the safeguarding and well-being of all children to ensure they all reach their potential.

Following legislation stated within 'Every Child Matters' and the United Convention on the Rights of a Child (UCRC) Educators should ensure that children are given the right to express their own views in all matters that affect them.

To offer support, kindness and consideration to other Educators working within the setting and always be ready to offer assistance to a fellow Educator.

Ensure that rotas and routines are followed and be able to make informed changes if necessary in the best interest of the children.

Participate within their team to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the setting and all its provisions.

Responsible to:

Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager, Early Years Lead Educator

Duties will include:

* Unique Child

Educators must be aware of the uniqueness of each child and ensure the individual needs of every child are met.

To follow and understand the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) both statutory and development matters. To offer support and quality teaching and learning to ensure children fulfil their full potential.

Be involved in the planning and assessment cycle, preparation of activities to provide a stimulating environment to develop children's individual development.

Prepare online learning journey's through on going observations, communication with families and summative assessments, identifying next steps in learning to ensure any gaps in learning are highlighted and to ensure all observations are used to inform planning.

Educators will be supported by management to follow the graduated response for any child needing early support. Educators will create and deliver early support plans when needed and work alongside families and outside agencies.

* Health & Safety
* All educators should be aware of Ofsted's expectations of staff/child ratios for all ages within the setting and adhere to them at all times.

Ensure all children are supervised at all times during their time at the setting to make sure they are fully safeguarded. (Refer to Operational Plan)

Educators must carry out a Risk Assessment on all newly bought provisions and resources before introducing them to children. (Refer to Operational Plan)

Educators must record accident/ incident/ existing injury/ medications in the format provided by the setting. All records must be seen and signed by management and parent's need to be notified of any of the above and sign to show they acknowledge this. (Refer to Operational Plan)

Educators should promote the importance of cleanliness and personal hygiene to the children, e.g. washing hands, brushing teeth and offering support and assistance with children's personal hygiene during and after toileting and potty training.

* Safeguarding

Educators must read and fully understand the settings Policies and Procedures and adhere to these at all times and to be involved with the decision process around new policies and procedures and the adaptation of these.

All educators must safeguard and promote the welfare of all children by; Protecting children from maltreatment, preventing the impairment of children's health or development and provide safe and effective care to all children.

Educators must build safe and secure relationships with children and their families while remaining professional at all times.

Educators must be positive role models at all times to children to ensure they enhance the importance of staying safe.

Educators are to provide a safe and secure environment where children are taught about and involved in the process of staying safe.

Educators must always listen to children and respond to their needs appropriately.

The role of all Educators is to safeguard children and to report any abuse or welfare concerns regarding children. (Refer to Operational Plan)

Educators must be aware of the dangers of child exploitation and have a good understanding of the definition of radicalisation and extremism. (Refer to Operational Plan)

Educators must respect the confidentiality of all information received and ensure it will be kept safe and secure. (Refer to Operational Plan)

Educators need to ensure all children are collected by people named on their registration forms and known to the setting. (Refer to Operational Plan)

Educators must ensure attendance is monitored and all daily absences are reported to management. (Refer to Operational Plan)

Educators must ensure ratios are correct at all times and only leave staff members alone for minimum time period i.e. Toilet breaks, to minimise lone working. (Refer to Operational Plan)

Educators must hold a valid DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) and it must be in date within 3 years. Educators cannot work directly with children until a DBS has been received and approved.

Educators will actively promote the fundamental values of democracy and the mutual respect of different faith's and beliefs.

All Educators will undergo the online channel training for additional understanding of the prevent duty.

* Positive Relationships

The Educator will build positive relationships with both children and their families to gain the valuable information regarding the child's likes, interests, and areas of development to support the child's learning journey.

Educators will understand the role and importance of the key person system. (Refer to Operational Plan)

Educators will support and encourage all children to build trusting relationships between themselves and their peers.

Educators will also build positive relationships when liaising with outside agencies such as; SENCO, Children's Services, SALT, Health visitors etc.

Educators will act as mentors for apprentices and students by building professional relationships and always be a good role model.

* Enabling Environments

Educators must create enriching learning environments that are stimulating and follow the interests of individual children.

To understand the importance of play within children's learning and development and the impact it has on their early years. (Refer to Operational Plan)

Be actively involved in outdoor play and understand the importance of outdoor play and physical activity, to understand that all children need equal opportunities of outdoor experiences if they wish.

To become familiar with the age appropriate routines within the area of work and to realise the importance of routines for young children and how this can enhance a sense of belonging within the setting for the individual child, knowing what comes next for a child, and how it can make them feel safe and secure and also make transitions more comfortable.

* Additional duties

Educators must wear Little Tots Nursery uniform (Red Tunic with logo on, or alternatively Red polo shirt with logo on and black trousers). Footwear must be suitable and black at all times.

Educators will be expected to undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, for example, preparation of snacks and meals and cleaning of equipment (any equipment cleaned or thrown away must be recorded)

Attend staff meetings (sometimes at short notice), attend regular appraisals and supervisions where relevant training needed will be discussed, which may need to be taken outside of working hours.

Be flexible within working practices, be adaptable to change within the setting and be prepared to work where needed.

Educators must be available for any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the management team and ensure that in the absence of management that the quality of care remains consistent.

Educators must inform management of any additional employment and ensure that it does not affect their time during the opening times of the Nursery.

Qualities and Experience required:

Be able to work effectively within a well-established team.

Minimum level 3 in childcare qualifications, with experience in working within the setting of a day nursery.

You will need to be flexible regarding hours of work and motivated to move forward.

Willingness to undertake relevant additional training is necessary.
