About the role Our MTP project works in partnership with the local authority to provide school holiday playschemes to children and young people with disabilities, from the ages of 5-18 years old. Sessions are in a group setting at specific venues within the local community and you and the staff team will be working with up to 15 children per session. Children will have an identified 1-1 but remain in the group setting. The playscheme sessions run Monday – Thursday 8.30 – 4pm, each week of the school holidays. The sessions provide various fun and engaging therapeutic activities taking place in the venue as well as our outdoor space. This allows the young people opportunities to enjoy activities of their choice whilst being supported to develop their social, communication and practical life skills. How you'll help to create brighter futures Your role will entail you to join in and have fun and play with the children bringing out the best of them and their abilities. You will be: Flexible to provide support to young people when accessing activities Personal care, you must be willing to undertake tasks such as promoting self care skills which will include attending to their personal care/changing needs Administering medication where required (full training to be provided) Planning and delivering complex and specialist interventions on a 1:1 basis or group basis Building and maintaining a strong partnership with parents and carers and to work with these and other multiagency professionals Let's talk about you Experience of working with children and young people with disabilities An understanding of child development and play Good communication skills both written and verbal The ability to build good rapport with people in the team An understanding of the importance of working with/alongside other agencies Good to know We are unable to offer sponsorship for this role For more information about the role, please review our full job description by clicking here.
