Job overview

We are looking for a psychologist or psychological therapist to join the Greater Manchester Student Mental Health Team.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced therapist who would like to develop their understanding and skills of working with complex and co-morbid mental health presentations using a trauma informed perspective. Our friendly team already includes a Consultant clinical psychologist Lead, 2 Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Psychologist and CBT therapist. We sit within a multi-disciplinary team to provide a needs-led trauma informed service.

Main duties of the job

You will provide assessment and formulation of clinical needs, intervention (individual and group based) and supervision, CPD and reflective practice to inform a psychological perspective to team working.

You will support the psychology team in continuing to build strong and mutually supportive relationships within our University partnership and may provide outreach to one of the University sites.

Qualifications

8. Qualified practitioner psychologist or psychological therapist

Desirable criteria

9. Further training in relevant approaches or group work

Experience

10. Relevant experience treating anxiety, depression and trauma related problems

Desirable criteria

11. Experience of supervising staff from non-therapeutic backgrounds

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria

12. Have a thorough understanding of common mental health and trauma
13. Have well developed communication skills to effectively communicate, often complex and sensitive information, information orally and in writing.

14. Knowledge of the role of substances and addiction in mental health and trauma presentations

The Trust mandates all post holders who require a DBS for their role to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. You will be required to enrol for this service for a fee of £16 per year and maintain registration throughout your employment with GMMH.
