37 hours per week. Join Bridgend CBC as we remodel the way we meet the needs of children who need our support in line with the Welsh Government agenda to end profit in children’s residential services in Wales.
Hillsboro House provides care and support for one child/young person aged 8‑25 years with complex needs who cannot be placed alongside others. The service acts as a short‑term bridging placement toward a more suitable long‑term placement, remaining reactive and avoiding out‑of‑county placements.
We aim to offer an opportunity to pause, understand needs better, and assist in transition to services that promote positive change and development.
Responsibilities
* Provide a therapeutic environment to stabilise the child’s or young person’s challenging behaviour.
* Work on improving risk‑taking behaviours.
* Reconnect to education, training or employment where necessary.
* Support identification of suitable long‑term placements.
* Ensure the home remains compliant with regulatory requirements.
* Protect children, young people, or adults at risk (core responsibility of all council employees).
Qualifications
* Qualified to QCF Level 3 Health & Social Care for children and young people as listed in the Qualification framework for the Social Care Sector in Wales.
Requirements
* Ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh.
* Enhanced Children and Adults Barred List criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).
* Flexible working availability and ability to work to the highest standards.
