SEND Teaching Assistant (Complex Needs & SEMH) Job Summary
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have a range of Special Educational Needs, particularly Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will provide support in both group and one-to-one settings within the classroom environment.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting with the planning, preparation and delivery of learning activities.
Adapting support approaches to suit individual pupil needs.
Promoting pupil progress and emotional development.
Gaining practical experience supporting pupils with complex learning and behavioural challenges.
This role offers valuable exposure for candidates aspiring to careers such as SEN Teacher, Educational Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist.
SEND Teaching Assistant (Complex Needs & SEMH) Job Requirements
Minimum 2:1 degree from a UK university.
Previous experience supporting children or young people, particularly with SEMH or SEN, is advantageous.
Strong interpersonal skills, emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Genuine interest in progressing in education or child psychology.
