Depot and Disposal Team Leader - fixed term until 31/08/

Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks
This post is a temporary position for up to 12 months, working pattern is 4 days on, 4 days off.
Managing multiple sites on either the East or West of the city, Depot and Disposal team leaders will be responsible for ensuring the HWRC and WTS in their area run efficiently, safely and within Waste Management Licence conditions at all times.
They will manage a team of site staff, drivers and plant operators, ensuring high levels of customer service and staff performance at all times.
Team leaders will be responsible for record keeping and ensuring any issues on site are quickly fixed. They will produce Risk assessments and Safe systems of works, deliver Toolbox talks to ensure staff know what is required of them, and ensure staff abide by correct working procedures. Applicants should be computer literate, able to interrogate booking systems, deal with enquiries on various systems, log changes on My HR and similar systems, report incidents and use email and other computer systems to a proficient level.
They will be responsible for managing staff performance and recruitment, as well as for updating the site working plans and liaising with bodies such as Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), Fire Service and Health and Safety Executive (HSE), as well as other council services.
Postholders are also responsible for the wider depot(s), ensuring staff from other parts of CEC comply with safety rules and that the whole depot operates safely. A high level of liaison and coordination is required for this, working with other teams in the council to ensure safe working and efficient remedies of any issues, dangers or defects. They will work with the Waste Infrastructure officer and representatives from other parts of the service to achieve this.
Applicants should hold a Certificate of Technical Competency (COTC) level 4 in Transfer of Hazardous Waste or be able to gain this qualification within two years of employment commencing.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
