The Role
We seek a senior bioinformatician experienced in analyzing next-generation sequencing data from cancer patients, focusing on the genomic landscape of acute leukaemia and its clinical relevance.
You will join the Leukaemia Research Cytogenomics Group (LRCG) at Newcastle University, working on genomic data from AML patients in the MyeChild01 trial, including RNA sequencing, genome sequencing, and optical genome mapping.
This project is part of a CRUK-funded award exploring genomic landscapes in leukaemia to improve patient outcomes. You will collaborate with experts and leverage datasets to identify biomarkers.
This is a fixed-term position from 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2030, offering opportunities for research development and career progression. Applicants need a relevant postgraduate degree and extensive experience in cancer bioinformatics.

* Experience in bioinformatics and NGS pipeline development.
* Proficiency in R/Bioconductor, Unix/Linux, and cloud computing.
* Experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills.

Qualifications
