Based out of our Plymouth office, we are looking for individuals with a background in any of the following; submarine systems engineering, submarine facility engineering, safety management or safety case development in the nuclear industry. Role Responsibilities Day to day, you'll provide professional systems, safety and environmental engineering support to current and future submarine focused projects. Below are a few examples of the type of projects we have been working on recently and the sort of work you'll support: Provide technical guidance and design support to the AUKUS programme. Supporting all aspects of submarine facility improvement projects. Identification of new and emergent technologies, with a 50-year look ahead, to proactively prevent the unwanted accumulation of biofouling organisms in future classes of submarines, whilst minimising the impact of any treatment on the environment. A high-level assessment of the impact of an unconventional option to reduce submarine Radiated Acoustic Noise on personnel, systems and equipment, to establish the limitations, shortfalls and the potential benefits that could be achieved. A holistic review of contemporary, novel, and pioneering technologies that could satisfy current and future submarine energy generation and storage needs, to influence and inform future propulsion plant design and architecture. Providing Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel knowledge into Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) 1, 2 and 3 related projects. Conducting and supporting studies to inform Submarine Plant Lifetime and Commission extensions. Supporting Independent Peer Reviews and Technical Assessments of design and safety documentation for submarine facilities and platforms. Produce nuclear safety substantiation and safety justification documents in support of a modern standards nuclear Safety Case. Preparing Whole Ship Safety Case documentation and engineering advice for Astute and Vanguard Class submarines. Additionally, there are potential opportunities to support the Civil Nuclear Sector, as the Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) development programme gains momentum.
