Main duties of the job

You will provide excellent clinical leadership and actively develop your team along with expert advice to our hospital and community specialists, managers, and directors on what is needed to deliver excellent care and to develop future strategic directions. The consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of patients and for the proper functioning of the department. The consultant will liaise with general practitioners, hospital and community specialists, and other agencies where relevant. Job responsibilities

Job Overview

We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our community mental health services, either full-time or part-time. You will work with established multidisciplinary teams, both operationally and strategically, to deliver innovative, high-quality care.

Opportunities for personal initiatives, research, specialist interests, teaching, training, management, and leadership are encouraged.

Additional Benefits: A recruitment and retention premium of £40,000 paid over three years, and an up to £8,000 relocation package (conditions apply).

Application Requirements: Registered medical practitioners with or eligible for CCT or equivalent, and eligible for the Specialist Register within six months of the interview.

You will work in partnership at strategic and operational levels with relevant stakeholders, ensuring respectful treatment of service users, carers, and advocates. You will provide clinical leadership and develop your team, advising hospital and community specialists, managers, and directors on care delivery and strategic planning. The role involves ongoing patient care responsibilities and departmental management. Liaising with GPs, hospital, and community specialists, and other agencies is essential.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* GMC Registration with a license to practice
* Medical Qualification
* MRCPsych or equivalent
* Specialist Register
* CCT or equivalent
* Eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview
* Higher Degree
* Diploma


Experience

* Clinical expertise in the specialty/subspecialty
* Approved/eligible for Section 12 of the Mental Health Act
* Approved/eligible for Approved Clinician status
* Experience across relevant settings
* Research experience


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This role requires a DBS check due to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
