Family Help Practitioner

Job description

Passionate about working with children and families?

Be at the heart of our transformation journey and enable earlier intervention and better outcomes for families in North East Lincolnshire.

Join a service that empowers you, supports you and values your skills.

Family Help Practitioner – Kinship Zone

About the role

Join North East Lincolnshire Council’s Children’s Services at an exciting time of transformation.

As a Family Help Practitioner, you will deliver high-quality, relationship-based support to children, young people and families, helping to prevent escalation into statutory services and enabling families to thrive.

Working as part of a supportive and ambitious team, you’ll play a key role within our Kinship offer, supporting families to stay safely together while contributing to innovative approaches to early help and intervention.

What will my day look like?

No two days are the same in this role. You’ll spend your time building strong, trusting relationships with children, young people and their families, offering practical support, guidance and evidence-based interventions tailored to their needs.

You’ll manage a varied caseload, completing assessments and working alongside families to develop meaningful plans that focus on their strengths and goals. A key part of your role will involve contributing to Family Network Meetings and Family Group Conferences, ensuring families are supported to find solutions that work for them.

Alongside this, you’ll deliver targeted interventions on both a one-to-one and group basis, including supporting young carers to balance their responsibilities while maintaining their own wellbeing and aspirations. You’ll work closely with colleagues and partner agencies, ensuring a joined-up approach that achieves the best possible outcomes.

About the Kinship Zone

North East Lincolnshire is one of a select number of areas chosen by the Department for Education to deliver a national Kinship Zone pilot.

This programme is focused on strengthening support for kinship families and preventing children from entering care by testing new and innovative approaches. As part of this, you’ll contribute to shaping services, improving stability for children and ensuring families receive the right support at the right time.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of something innovative, impactful and forward-thinking, while helping families build brighter, more stable futures.

We reserve the right to close our adverts early if we have received a significant volume of suitable applications.
