Project Manager (Structures)

Red Sky Personnel is representing a leading main contractor delivering a major, high-profile infrastructure project in Birmingham. Due to ongoing project requirements, our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a proven structures background to support the delivery of complex reinforced concrete substructure and superstructure packages on a large-scale programme.
This role is specifically suited to candidates with hands-on experience delivering structural packages, including RC frames, cores, basements, transfer structures, decks and associated temporary works. Candidates without demonstrable structures delivery experience will not be suitable.
The Project Manager (Structures) will support the Structures Senior Project Manager and Construction Lead, coordinating planning, design validation, procurement and on-site construction activities, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and programme certainty.
You will take full responsibility for defined structural work packages, ensuring delivery in line with the Contractor’s Management Plan, programme milestones, commercial targets and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Structures SPM in managing substructure and superstructure packages from pre-construction through to handover
Take ownership of RC and structural work packages, ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality delivery
Produce short-form and detailed progress reports, including cost, forecast, risks and programme status
Attend client and stakeholder meetings and deputise for the Structures SPM where required
Coordinate construction, structural design, temporary works, procurement and commercial teams
Lead and manage site-based structures teams and key subcontractors
Ensure right-first-time quality in line with structural specifications and inspection regimes
Manage interfaces with adjacent works, other contractors and stakeholders
Promote continuous improvement and lessons learned across structural delivery
Technical Skills & Competencies
Strong technical understanding of reinforced concrete structures and temporary works
Proven experience delivering structural packages on major infrastructure or building projects
Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation, including CDM Regulations
Commercially aware with experience managing structural packages to budget
Proven experience working under NEC contracts
Confident communicator at site, project and client level
Qualifications, Certifications & Experience
Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering
HNC/HND acceptable with significant structural delivery experience
Membership of ICE or equivalent professional body preferred
Valid CSCS card and Safety for Senior Managers training
Strong IT capability, including BIM, AutoCAD and common data environments
Significant experience delivering complex RC structures, including:
Basements and substructures
Frames, cores and decks
Station, transport or major infrastructure structures
Experience working on major infrastructure projects, ideally rail or transport-led
Proven ability to manage structural interfaces and multi-contractor environments
