About Us

Were a leading UK environmental charity dedicated to protecting our ocean defending crucial habitats, regenerating vital ecosystems and inspiring volunteers. Through our UK-wide, year-round Beachwatch programme, we mobilise people to remove litter, gather vital evidence, and take action that protects marine life.

We are currently looking for a Team Beach Clean Assistant to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 35 hours per week.

The Benefits

Salary of £23,132 - £24,479 per annum
25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays (increasing with service)
Extra time off at Christmas
8% employer pension contributions (no match required)
Sick pay at full pay for 8 weeks, then 8 weeks at half pay (after probation)
Flexible working and remote-first approach
Health and wellbeing support, plus an employee assistance programme
A paid volunteering day to support a charity of your choice
Cycle-to-work scheme

This role sits at the heart of our corporate beach clean offer. Youll support the Team Beach Clean Officer by booking, planning and delivering Team Beach Cleans and related engagement opportunities for corporate groups. Working closely with the Corporate Partnerships team, youll help ensure every company has a brilliant experience from the first enquiry to the follow-up building awareness, learning and ongoing support across a wide range of sectors.

What youll be doing

Youll be the person who makes corporate beach cleans happen smoothly and safely, with just the right mix of warmth, organisation and practical problem-solving.

On a typical cycle, youll be booking and co-ordinating events, creating clear plans for the day, liaising with company leads, and making sure everything is in place from site permissions and risk assessments to equipment, travel and litter/data submission. Youll keep records accurate and up to date (handling participant data in line with our data policy), and youll raise invoices for deposits and balances, working with colleagues in Finance to track payments.

Youll also help bring businesses into our wider supporter journey. That includes thoughtful follow-up after events, helping develop resources and communications, and taking a more systematic approach to staying in touch with previous enquirers and attendees between seasons. During quieter delivery periods, you may deliver short, engaging talks for company groups, either online or in person, within a reasonable radius.

Alongside the corporate programme, youll sometimes support public beach cleans contributing to the OSPAR monitoring programme, and youll pitch in with end-of-year review activity and improvements to event activities as needed.

Where youll work (and what youll need)

Delivery will be predominantly in the Southeast, so a homeworking base within easy commuting distance to Brighton is preferred. Youll need reliable access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence, as some beach clean locations cant be reached easily by public transport. The role involves storing and moving event equipment (such as folding tables, banners and litter pickers), occasional travel to other regions, and sometimes an overnight stay.

What were looking for

Youll bring experience of delivering face-to-face engagement days with different audiences, and youll be confident handling enquiries by email, phone and in person. Youll be organised, accurate and calm under pressure, with the ability to keep multiple events moving forward at once. Youll also understand the importance of good data handling and have a working knowledge of data protection in practice.

Youll be comfortable using Microsoft 365 (especially Teams, Word and Excel), and youll enjoy working with colleagues across an organisation to deliver a great experience. Just as importantly, youll bring a people-first approach friendly, professional and genuinely keen to help others feel part of something positive. xlqdzyr

Useful (but not essential) : experience with volunteers, corporate fundraising, Airtable/Access/Wagtail (or similar systems), first aid, and an understanding of UK marine life and conservation challenges.

Closing date : Sunday 1st March 2026
