A well-known manufacturer of precision parts based in Blackburn is recruiting for a CNC Programmer on a permanent day shift, operating and programming CNC lathes for a range of machined tools. The role offers £38,000 - £42,000 p/a with an annual bonus of up to 10% and overtime available, with additional training and development opportunities offered on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
 * Program and operate advanced CNC machines to manufacture high-precision components essential for mould tooling and production support across various departments.
 * Set up CNC machines by selecting appropriate tooling, configuring fixtures, and adjusting parameters to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
 * Develop, refine, and optimise lathe programs using CAM software to achieve precise machining outcomes for complex turned parts.
 * Interpret detailed engineering drawings and CAD models to guarantee the accurate production of components that meet stringent quality standards.
 * Perform routine maintenance tasks on CNC lathe equipment and associated tooling, ensuring machinery operates efficiently and safely at all times.
 * Troubleshoot technical issues related to lathe operations promptly, collaborating with engineering and production teams to resolve challenges effectively.
 * Maintain comprehensive documentation including setup sheets, inspection records, and tooling logs to support traceability and process improvement initiatives.
 * Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and quality protocols within the toolroom environment, contributing positively to a culture of responsibility and care.
Qualifications
 * Be time-served, hold an HNC or equivalent qualification relevant to precision engineering environments.
 * Demonstrate at least three years’ hands-on experience operating CNC machines (ideally lathes) within high-tolerance manufacturing settings.
 * Show proficiency in using SolidCAM or similar CAM software for developing efficient programs tailored to specific project requirements.
 * Exhibit a thorough understanding of CNC processes, materials selection, machining tolerances, and best practices for component manufacture.
 * Display strong communication skills that enable effective collaboration across multiple departments including engineering, production, and quality assurance.
 * Possess excellent attention to detail coupled with robust problem-solving abilities that contribute positively to continuous improvement efforts.
 * Bring a proactive approach towards supporting production demands by adapting flexibly when required by business needs.
