An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hands-on and qualified Management Accountant / Financial Controller to join a growing organisation within the professional sports sector. This is a unique role for an ambitious finance professional who thrives in a dynamic, community-driven environment.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director and working closely with senior leadership, you will take ownership of the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and long-term financial stability. This role combines strategic oversight with day-to-day operational responsibility.
* Full responsibility for day-to-day financial operations.
* Monthly management accounts with detailed commentary and analysis.
* Annual budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management.
* Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
* Payroll administration for staff and players.
* Ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
* Supervision of an existing bookkeeper.
* Oversight of ticketing systems and reconciliations.
* Liaising with auditors, directors, and external stakeholders.
About You
We are seeking a fully qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA / CIMA) with proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior accounting role. Exposure to both practice and industry environments is desirable.
The Ideal Candidate Will Be
* Commercially astute, highly organised, and detail-focused.
* Confident in financial systems and Excel (Sage experience advantageous).
* Comfortable working across all levels of finance from high-level reporting to hands-on tasks.
* Flexible and proactive, with the ability to support matchday operations when required.
