About the College
Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi-million, state of the art, new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located.
Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND.
The College has two main campuses in Ashington, and Ponteland, and as part of the college group Education Partnership Northeast, it also has a significant number of satellite delivery centres across the region
Served by easy road links, and the new train station in Ashington, when Northumberland College opens its new Department for Education backed campus at Wansbeck Business Park, the college will boast a national trailblazer both in architectural design and operation. This major £52 million+ investment comes on top of the College recently driving £14million into new facilities and resources at its existing sites.
About the Role
The Curriculum Manager – Agriculture, Animal & Land-Based Studies will provide strategic, operational and academic leadership for a specialist curriculum area aligned to the needs of learners, employers and the land-based sector. The role is responsible for the effective management, development and delivery of high-quality programmes that meet awarding organisation, funding and quality requirements.
Role Responsibilities
•Provide strategic and operational leadership for agriculture, animal and land-based programmes, ensuring high-quality, industry-relevant curriculum delivery and continuous improvement.
•Lead teaching, learning and assessment, modelling excellent practice and promoting innovative approaches that enhance learner outcomes and progression.
•Line manage and develop curriculum teams, ensuring effective performance management, staff deployment, timetabling and professional development.
•Oversee quality assurance, self-assessment and quality improvement planning, ensuring compliance with awarding organisation, funding and inspection requirements.
•Manage external relationships with awarding organisations,employers and sector partners to maintain credibility,relevance and progression opportunities.
•Ensure compliance with safeguarding, PREVENT, health and safety, data protection and college policies,maintaining accurate records and meeting agreed performance targets.
Qualifications
•Appropriate degree or equivalent
•PGCE or relevant teacher training qualification
•Level 2 English and maths qualifications
Essential Skills & Experience
•Recent and relevant experience in Further Education/Higher Education including curriculum development, improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment and raising standards of student progress and destination.
•Successfully leading and managing a team
•Evidence of collecting and acting upon data analysis accurately
•Experience of working in the Land-based sector
•Evidence of outstanding teaching demonstrating positive impact
•Experience of working with a range of stakeholders
