Job Description
This one‑year, full‑time clinical fellowship provides advanced specialist clinical skills across the spectrum of neuromuscular diseases. The post combines inpatient and outpatient experience in the assessment, investigation, management and follow‑up of patients with acquired and inherited anterior horn cell, peripheral nerve, neuromuscular junction, and muscle disorders.
Clinical duties are supervised and instructed by consultant neurologists and clinical academics with established national and international standing in these areas. Fellows learn through observation, are encouraged to develop autonomous clinical assessment and decision‑making skills, and engage with multidisciplinary teams including specialist nursing, OT, physiotherapy, neuropsychology, neuropathology, neuroradiology and neurophysiology.
Opportunities include performing an audit, quality‑improvement project, or clinical research project under senior supervision, and attending national and international neuromuscular courses and conferences. Fellows present original research to build a strong reputation and advance career‑building networking opportunities.
The Trust Grade Doctor will have primary charge of the day‑to‑day care of patients under the Neuromuscular firm. Responsibilities include attending consultant ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and MDT meetings, and providing neurological assessment and clerking at admission and discharge for all patients.
