Job summary

To provide leadership to the Intrapartum Care Team of Midwives and Support Teams, and to provide midwifery care within a hospital setting. The post holder will be responsible for the implementation and delivery of evidence-based care within the team ensuring local women and their families have both excellent outcomes and experiences. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring a clean and suitable environment to ensure a positive birth experience.


Main duties of the job

The Labour Ward Coordinator will primarily work clinically on Delivery Suite and Triage. As a clinical leader and role model you will provide high quality and safe woman-centred, evidence-based care. You will be experienced in advocacy for women, safe care provision within a high-risk birthing environment and be able to support and lead the Intrapartum Care team.

You will manage your own time and department effectively and efficiently. You will have the responsibility of ensuring that the team provide a safe service with appropriate management of people, resources, finances and estate.

Collaborative and cohesive working with the Ward Manager, Operational management team, Matrons, Consultant Midwife and medical colleagues is a key requirement. You will have the skills and experience to support the rest of the unit when required to ensure a co-ordinated approach to the service for women and their families.

* Honours level Degree in Midwifery or evidence of this level of study


Desirable

* Evidence of management experience and/or training
