Overview
Location: RDM Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU. We are seeking a highly motivated Postgraduate Research Assistant with expertise and interest in Cardiovascular Medicine to join the Channon research group. You will be based in the British Heart Foundation laboratories in the Centre for Human Genetics, a state-of-the-art research facility on the University’s Old Road Campus.
Responsibilities
* Investigate the role of novel candidate genes in cardiovascular disease using in vitro cell-based models, molecular and biochemical techniques.
* Generate, maintain and characterise primary and immortalised cell cultures.
* Day-to-day laboratory maintenance, including setting up equipment and re-ordering lab supplies.
Qualifications
* BSc in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology, or Natural Sciences (or related discipline).
* Experience in PCR, qRT-PCR, cell culture and proteomic analysis.
* Willingness to work with tissue generated from in vivo models.
* Ability to gather, analyse and present qualitative and/or quantitative data from diverse sources and contribute to project planning.
Contract and Location
This is a full-time appointment on a fixed-term contract until 2029.

Salary
£35,681 to £41,636 per annum (Grade 6).
