Paralegal – Casualty Injury Team

DAC Beachcroft is looking to appoint an experienced Paralegal to join our Casualty Injury Team in Birmingham. This role works with a Senior Solicitor assisting on complex high‑value claims with values predominantly over £250k.
Our national team handles a mix of leading insurance and corporate clients, dealing with all aspects of defendant litigation including catastrophic injury, clinical negligence, motor, casualty, disease, product, professional negligence and health and safety. The team is increasingly involved in pre‑emptive advice on these issues as well as dispute resolution.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the running of complex claims ensuring deadlines are met and cases are managed proactively to conclusion
* Ensure work is carried out effectively to meet client needs, commercial requirements of the firm and quality standards
* Adhere to internal and client SLAs, KPIs and protocols
* Achieve agreed financial targets
* Prompt billing and collection of WIP and disbursements
* Provide accurate MI
* Support a clear case strategy, balancing commercial interests of both the firm and client
* Apply appropriate technical expertise and current case law
* Manage risk and compliance issues within each case, escalating emerging problems promptly to the supervisor
* Engage with clients to maximise opportunities and act as an ambassador of the firm
* Contribute to business development and client relationship activity in support of the Client Relationship Partner where required
* Maintain and develop technical knowledge through training sessions and relevant publications
Qualifications
* 0–5 years’ experience in a similar role
* Experience in Multi‑Track or Fast‑Track claims
* EL/PL experience
* High personal compliance with firm protocols and procedures
* Good legal knowledge relevant to area of expertise
* Strong organisational skills, able to work to deadlines, prioritise workload and meet conflicting demands
* Commercial perspective to legal issues, high standard of written and oral communication
* Confident negotiator
* Produce work to a high standard with excellent attention to detail and concern for quality of service
* Team oriented and collegiate, willing to share knowledge and support other team members
* Demonstrates alignment with the firm’s cultural principles (Clear, Creative, Determined, Supportive)
