Job Summary
Aspace2 Day Opportunities provides support to trainees with learning, physical, or sensory disabilities, enabling them to engage in meaningful daytime activities and achieve personal development goals. The Day Opportunities Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality, person-centred support, managing daily operations, and leading a team of staff to ensure all services meet organisational and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Leadership and Supervision
* Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of staff, ensuring they are confident, competent, and equipped to support trainees effectively.
* Promote a positive and professional team culture with a focus on reflective practice and ongoing development.
* Activity Planning and Delivery
* Plan and deliver engaging, meaningful, and inclusive activities that are tailored to the interests, needs, and abilities of trainees.
* Support the personal development, independence, and active participation of trainees in all activities.
* Regularly adapt activities to reflect the evolving goals and preferences of trainees.
* Monitoring and Evaluation
* Monitor the progress and well-being of trainees through ongoing observation, feedback, and reviews.
* Evaluate the effectiveness of activities and support plans, making improvements where necessary.
* Ensure that support and risk assessments remain up to date and relevant.
* Communication and Collaboration
* Maintain open, respectful, and effective communication with trainees, families, carers, and other professionals involved in their care.
* Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to support.
* Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution
* Address challenges or concerns that arise within the team or with trainees, resolving issues constructively and promptly.
* Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes well-being and respect for all.
* Documentation and Reporting
* Keep accurate and up-to-date records of activities, trainee progress, incidents, and service delivery.
* Prepare reports as required and contribute to audits, reviews, and regulatory inspections.
* Operational Management and Compliance
* Support the Operations/Deputy managers to manage service delivery effectively, as directed, ensuring activities operate efficiently and within budget.
* Oversee financial processes such as petty cash and expenditure tracking.
* Ensure compliance with Aspace2 policies, safeguarding standards, and relevantlegislation.
* Community Engagement and Development
* Promote community inclusion and access to local resources and opportunities for trainees.
* Develop and maintain partnerships with community groups and organisations to expand activity offerings and outcomes.
* Represent the service at local events, and community meetings to raise awareness and advocate for inclusion.
* Identify and pursue opportunities to support or enhance trainee activities.
* Organise community visits, open days, or inclusive events that promote socialintegration and celebrate trainee achievements.
* Gather feedback from trainees to continuously improve services.
Person Specification
* Essential Criteria
* Level 3 NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
* At least 3 years' experience in a care or support setting.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient IT and organisational skills.
* Experience working with trainees with learning, physical, or sensory disabilities.
* Desirable Criteria
* Understanding of person-centred approaches.
* Experience in delivering structured day opportunities or support programmes.
* Knowledge of relevant health and social care legislation and best practices.Key Skills and Competencies
