Join Our Team as an Independent Assessing Social Worker

Are you an experienced social worker based in North-West with a passion for fostering services? We're looking for a dedicated professional to join our team as an Independent Assessing Social Worker, where you'll have the flexibility to work from home with a highly rewarding compensation of £2,300 per completed assessment. In this self-employed role, you'll play a key part in guiding prospective foster carers through the assessment journey and presenting your assessments to the Family Care Fostering Panel.

Role Overview

As an Independent Assessing Social Worker, your role will be to thoroughly evaluate and support applicants who aspire to become approved foster carers. Working under the direction of the Registered Manager, you'll conduct a minimum of eight home visits with applicants and visit key references, including family members, birth children, and former partners, to ensure comprehensive assessments. Each assessment includes detailed work on the applicant's skills, health and safety considerations, pet and finance evaluations, as well as specialized reports if needed. Once completed, you'll present your assessments to the Fostering Panel in Newcastle-under-Lyme, collaborating closely with Family Care's Supervising Social Workers for a smooth transition.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Conduct Comprehensive Assessments: Use the Fostering competency-based assessment format to evaluate applicants' suitability.
2. Panel Presentations: Present completed assessments to Family Care Fostering's Panel.
3. Documentation and Confidentiality: Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with statutory requirements.
4. Flexible Scheduling and Communication: Coordinate visits with applicants, referees, and agency contacts, and keep management informed of any adjustments.
5. Timely Reporting: Complete assessments within agreed timelines and promptly report any delays to the Registered Manager.
6. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all health, safety, and confidentiality policies to ensure a secure and respectful work environment.

Essential Requirements: Full, clean driving license; Social Work England registration; willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Experience: Prior experience in fostering assessments is essential.

This role offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute meaningfully to fostering services while enjoying the benefits of a flexible, home-based position. If you have a passion for social work, fostering, and working with families, we would love to hear from you!
