Workshop Engineer / Manual Machinist
We are a well-established and highly respected engineering business experiencing a period of sustained growth. Known for innovation within our sector, we specialise in the design and manufacture of bespoke, high-quality components and change parts for leading FMCG customers.
Due to increased demand, we are now looking to recruit an experienced Workshop Engineer / Manual Machinist to join our team.
The Role
This is a hands-on, workshop-based position where you will play a key role in the manufacture, assembly, inspection, and maintenance of bespoke engineering components.
The role is focused on manual machining and precision engineering, and requires a strong background in traditional workshop practices.
Key responsibilities include:
* Manual machining (lathe turning and general workshop machining)
* Mechanical assembly of bespoke components and systems
* Inspection and quality control of finished parts
* Routine maintenance and workshop support activities
This is a varied and practical role, working on one-off and small batch, highly engineered products.
What We’re Looking For
We are specifically seeking a fully qualified engineering tradesperson with proven, hands-on manual machining experience.
You will ideally have:
* A strong background in manual workshop engineering (essential)
* Proven experience in lathe turning and traditional machining techniques (essential)
* Vocational or recognised qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Trades
* Experience working within a workshop or precision engineering environment
* The ability to interpret technical drawings and work to tight tolerances
* A quality-focused approach with excellent attention to detail
* A proactive, flexible attitude and willingness to support business needs
* Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
While CNC experience may be beneficial, this role is not CNC-focused — the emphasis is on manual engineering skills and craftsmanship.
